• 10. Anniversary Celebration of founding FS Ostroha - November 2017
       Celebration of 10th anniversary of founding. For the last 10 years, Ostroha is one of the main element of Slovak community in Ireland. Members had an opportunity to present Slovak traditional culture via their songs, music and dances.
       "Story of Ostroha" - the main program of the evening will reflect key points of Ostroha`s history. Surprise on the end and refreshment after party is what is waiting for you too. Grilled sausages from George Navratil and Goulash from Street Food Fanatic and something sweet too. very tasty.

• Christmas time with Ostroha at home -  2nd CD of FS Ostorha, title "Vinšujeme Vám".
  
       The idea came from the fact that we do Christmas Carrols concerts every year, so why not change the tradition and have Christmas with Ostroha anytime you want? :). (more info)
  

• International Song Festival, Clondalkin, November 2016 - Fantastic opportunity to present Slovak culture via songs and music. International song festival was held in Clondalkin village. We have been singing together with Irish, Romanian, Georgian, Russian, Botswanan singers.

• Katarinska Veselica na Martina, The Cobblestone, Smithfield, D7, November 2016 - Every once in a while we would like share with you our joy, beautiful tradidional slovak music, songs, free dance floor, finger food, Slovak brandy`s and again, fun till late hours. Well this time we also had an opportunity to hear a new formation of musicians and singers called "Slovak String" playing folk-rock by slovak artists.
  
       And as always some lucky people went home beside a smile and great mood, a little surprize they won in raffle full of interested prizes.

• Hungarian Culture Night, September 2016 - they invited really everyone to explore, discover and participate in arts, Hungarian gastronomy and different European folk dances. 
  8 different and very talented artist introduced their amazing work. Culture Night is an annual all-island public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts. Very interesting and culture rich event. 
  Just fyi, after the Hungarian dance workshop there was Hungarian wine tasting! Hope to see you there next time...
  

• The 25th anniversary of the Visegrad Group cooperation June 2016 - alliance of four Central European states Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland – for the purpose of furthering their European cooperation and for advancing their political, economic and energy cooperation.
       The event was held on 9th of June 2016 in the Residence of the Polish Ambassador

• White World dance and music show - Liberty Hall, Dublin - April 2016 - Fs Ostroha hosted in Dublin members of Slovak Folklore Ensemble Vranovcan with their Black & White World dance and music show.     

  
  Almost 300 people gathered together in The Liberty Hall to see this fantastic show, story of forbidden love.

•  Wedding Adare Village, April 2016 - Few weeks ago we had an opportunity to celebrate marriage of the beautifull Slovak-Irish couple in Adare village. 
       It was fantastic wedding and we have enjoyed dancing, playing a singing for such a good audience.

• Holiday World Show, January 2016 - Holiday World Show in Dublin is fantastic opportunity to present beauty of own country and spread it to the world. Slovak embassy in Ireland took a part and present Slovakia as tourist destinations through publications about nature beauties, cultural and technical monuments, rural and urban tourism.
  
       Ostroha showed beauty of Slovak traditions through songs, music dance and costumes.

• Credance & FS Ostroha, November 2015 - dacne group Credance from Slovakia came to join our traditional "Katarina Jamboree" and also to teach us some cool moves.
  
       This event turned out to be another amazing evening among our friends of various nationalities, where everybody was engoying our traditional Slovak folklore music, songs and dnace. One thing is writing about it, but another living  and enjoying it. 
    

• Charity Bazaar, November 2015 Browse around stalls from 40 or so countries, taste exotic foods, and admire traditional crafts, produce and costume accompanied by music and dance from around the globe.
  
       “The International Charity Bazaar is an inspiring example of a community spirit that is not limited by borders or nationality. The focus of the Charity Bazaar is to build and develop the relationship between the diplomatic and host communities in Ireland.....celebrating the vibrant and multi-cultural dimension of the society in which we live and work” We hope to see you ther next time...

• Slovak music legend has been on scene since 1988. Their music is a mix of alternative and easy-listening sound with touch of humour not only in lyrics but in specific “dance” performance by their frontman Jan Kuric. 
  
  Yes,"Vidiek was in Dublin on 29th October 2015", in Button Factory, Dublin 2, as a part of their tour “Why Should I Go Home” together with PACORA Trio to create special and limited Slovak folky sound. Additionally they sang one of their famous songs “Vidieeeeeecan” (Country man) with  Slovak Folkore Ensemble  Ostroha, it was super fun and yet another great event also thanks to slovak band GREMMY

• "Smithfield and Stoneybatter food festival October 2015 " 
  We have been invited to Pifko Bar to celebrate food festival In Smithfield and Stoneybatter.
       FS Ostroha have been representing Slovak traditional dances and songs. After performance we organized a class of Slovak dance which everybody enjoyed. See you next time :-)

• "Lucan Festival " - Another fantastic day with Slovak community living in Ireland! Slovak bands Gremmy and FS Ostroha presented variety of Slovak music and dance on both stages. We also joined the local market by selling traditional food, drinks and souvenirs. 
     
       People had an opportunity to taste homemade cakes as well as talk to Ostroha members about Slovakia.
   
       Huge Thank you to everyone who helped out with running the market and thanks to Paul Madden for his invitation. Hope to see you all next year!

• "Slovak dance school and Jamboree - May 2015"
       We`re glad that you came and joined our dance school, you could learn new moves and figures.

• "Intercultular Traditional Dance Festival - March 2015" - yet again we all had a great fun, met our old and new friends and saw great, dynamic performance of many groups with their colorfull costumes in Civic Theatre, Dublin 22.

• St. Patrick`s Parade - Clane 2015 - 
  Ostroha during St. Patrick`s day parade in Clane. It was perfect day and we had a lot of fun.

• "New dance and its first steps" February 2015 - V dňoch 6 - 8. februára sme v Dubline hosťovali tanečného choreografa Vlado Michalko Šauper, ktorý nám spolu s tanečnicou
  Tonkou položili základy nového tanca.
  
  Bol to veľmi náročný ale veľmi krásny víkend plný tanca, pohybu a rytmov.

• "Fašiangová veselica a škola tanca - Murrays - February 2015 
       Music, dance, lots of fun, but also we remembered how it was when we were at school. These can be charakteristics of yet another great event hosted by FS Ostroha and its friends along with a special guest a professional choreographer Vlado Michalko Sauper.

• "Návšteva z Úradu pre Slovákov žijúcich v zahraničí" -  19 Februára sa na Veľvyslanectve SR v Írsku začala oficiálna navšteva predsedu ÚSŽZ p. Igora Furdíka a poradkyne predsedu p. Vilmy Prívarovej.
       
  S nami, členmi Ostrohy sa stretli na oficiálnom privítaní na veľvyslanectve ale aj v sobotu 21.2 v priestoroch Vzdelávacieho centra v Dubline kde sme spolu debatovali o spolupráci a našich plánoch v 2015. Viac informácií tu 

• "A Charity Christmas dinner for homeless" - (25/12/2014)
  

•      Not everybody is so lucky to have christmas dinner with the family. Knights, organized meal for 2400 people (including homeless) in RDS, Dublin. We had an oportunity to present litle bit of our culture.

• "Paris 2014 - FS Nadeje & FS Ostroha"  -FS Ostroha is once again out of Ireland. This time we accepted an invitation of Slovak Folkore Ensamble in France FS Nadeje. 
  
       It was great experience for us, not only to see our friends after long time, but also perform infront of french mixed audience which was very rewarding and pleasent. It was very good opportunity to return their visit in Dublin.
  
  
       We  all had a really good time and really enjoyed Nadeje`s hospitality.Thanks to our good relationship with Nadeje we hope that it was not the last trip to France ;) (few photos)

• "Vianočný workshop - December 2014"
       Opať sme raz prežili krásny predvianočný decembrový deň plný fantázie, kreativity a radosti. 

    Ďakujeme všetkým zúčastneným, ale aj tým ktorí nám omohli s prípravami. Veríme, že aj Vám sa páčilo a že sa zase v takomto hojom pocte pri ďalšom workshope s Ostrohou. (foto)

•        Another superb event. On Saturday 22.11. Fs Ostroha hosted dance group “Carovne ostrohy” in the Tivoli theatre in Dublin. This evening was very special for its “Rocky style” when Carovne Ostrohy demonstrated their profile program Rockom Krokom full of energy, speed and dance virtuosity.
       
   Ostroha added to the program traditional dances, songs and few solo music pieces. After the  almost 2 hours performance on the stage there was Slovak jamboree until very late. • The 6th International mass and Celebration of Cultures took place on Fathers Day 16.06.2013. It was a fantastic, vibrant, colorful and meaningful celebration of the diversity of cultures in Mary Immaculate, Refuge of Sinners Church in Rathmines. There was a 6 o`clock mass, followed by a celebration of cultures in St. Mary`s Community Centre Afterwards. Girls from Ostroha sang for the 6th time in this wonderful event.

•      Workshop Easter 2013 - Our goal is to continue to promote and retain folk dance, folk songs and folk music of Slovakia and to promote the education and training of people of any age who show genuine interest in Slovak national heritage. Promote Slovak culture, heritage in Ireland, keeping Slovak traditions and the elevation of national identity.

       One of the most known tradition over the Easter in Slovakia is decorating easter eggs and making easter willow tree plaits.

•      For the first time ever, the Slovaks have had an opportunity to present themselves on a well known festival of Saint Patrick. Ostroha was invited to participate in this year's traditional St. Patrick's parade organised in Clane, a small town in county Kildare, on 17th March 2013.      We joined the parade together with the local people and almost 20 other nationalities and greeted thousands of people who came to celebrate the day despite of the rainy weather. We are delighted that we could present Slovakia and the Slovaks living in Ireland on an event like this. (short video)

•      The photography exhibition by Czech and Slovak photographers (Eye of the Beholder II.) was ceremonially opened on 9 March 2013 at the County Library, Tallaght, Dublin 24, in the presence of the Czech and Slovak ambassadors and other selected guests. Members of Ostroha presented traditional slovak songs and music band played few pieces during opening ceremony.

  There it was, Christmas concert 2012 on the 16th December 2012 in St. Saviour Church, Lower Dominic street in Dublin 1. •          17^th November was a day of 5^th anniversary of ensemble founding. In this occasion Ostroha had a big celebration and performance in Tivoli Theatre on Francis street Dublin. Our programme “Seasons  of The Village” was  based on typical year in the old Slovak village, interpreted via slovak traditions, songs and dances from various Slovak regions.

               Almost 250 people from Ireland, Slovakia, Czech republic United Kingdom etc  had 
          seen our 90 minutes performance.
               “I enjoyed it immensely and it was a lovely introduction to your country and culture”      
          said Ann Horgan               
               Big surprise  of  the  evening  was launching a  our first CD  which was recorded just
          few weeks before the anniversary. CD contains songs  from numerous regions of  Slovakia,
          for example Horehron, Zemplin or  Gemer.

    FS Ostroha, in co-operation with Dublin City Council, took a part in Intercultural Food Festival in Carmelite Community Centre on Aungier Street, Wednesday 19th September 2012. 
    
    Fantastic food from different parts of the world was accompanied with the vibrancy and diversity of Slovak folklore.

•      For the third year we were part of International exhibition and showcase of the culture and arts of the various nations and communities Expo Nations in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
       Our performance took place on Saturday 11th of August 2012 and we were among of Spanish flamenco, Bright lights - Ulster dancers, Virtuoso Ivanov - Bulgarian musicians and Expo- Nations youth choir.

• 21 members of Slovak Folklore ensemble Ostroha packed their suitcases with traditional costumes and travelled  to Slovakia for  one of the biggest folklore festival Podpolianske folklorne slavnosti held in Detva between Friday 06^th July and  Monday 9^th July.
       Ostroha performed during Sunday`s programme “Krajanska Nedela” organized by Office for Slovaks living Abroad (USZZ) with new dance from Telgart, songs from Terchova and special male dance Verbunk.

  Perfect atmosphere, hot weather, air fulfilled with folklore spirit, made the performance even more    attractive. For more information please click here.

15th of June to 22nd June 2012 - the Centre for Creative Practices (15 Pembroke Street Lower, Dublin 2)  the Slovak Centre – Ireland presented the “SLOVAK CULTURAL WEEK 2012”. This was the third year in a row where you could get familiar with Slovak culture, folklore,  artists, cinematography and many more.

• International Mass and Festival of Cultures, Rathmines, Dublin 6, Sunday 10th June, the first day of the International Eucharistic Congress.
       This is always a particularly festive and colourful celebration of the richness and diversity within our parish community and we are glad that Ostroha was once again part of it.
  

• Open Day at the Lantern centre on Synge street, Harcourt on Friday June 8th. Reflecting the many cultures, religions and interest groups which use the Lantern Centre facilities, the event full of performances and workshops in music, dance, meditation techniques, martial arts, yoga, displays of art, photographs and international costumes and much more... One great evening along with wonderful people and great atmosphere ;)

To make the unhappy people happier. This was our idea on St. Patricks day Eve on 16^th March. Our programme was seen by 2 dozen homeless migrant workers who have lost their  jobs and their place in society.

The performance took place in a Hostel run by Depaul Ireland in Charlemont Street. Some images from the day can be seen here.

• Perfect atmosphere, delicious food, happy faces, great day and colorfull program, all this was  in  Neptune Rowing Club, Chapelizod Road at the "Social" International Celebration on Sunday the 26th February. Fun social event with a focus on celebrating the diversity of cultures around the world. (India, Uganda, Slovakia and many more)

• Slovak Center - Ireland and FS Ostroha, organized the 4th Slovak Ball in Dublin. Great performance, delicious food and perfect athmosphere could be heard out of The Regency Hotel in Drumcondra at night on 11. 02. 2012. FS Ostroha presented themself with new dance from the middle of Slovakia "Horehron". You can see amazing photos from this event on www.jancek.net.

• 1st Ball of Czech and Slovak people leaving in Northern Ireland was held on Saturday 4^th February in Stormont Hotel in Belfast (NI). Athmosfere was great, beautiful decoration, music, guests and ofcourse FS Ostroha ;). For more information please visit http://belfastformal.weebly.com/index.html

• The 4^th annual Rathmines parish International Mass took place on Sunday 26^th June in Church of Mary Immaculate, 52 Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin 6, during the mass people from different countries (along with FS Ostroha) contributed with their songs and life stories, followed by a Celebration of Cultures in St Mary’s Community Centre after mass.

• 2nd Slovak Cultural Week in Dublin (17/06 - 24/06) - the focal point of the Slovak Cultural Week is an exhibition of Slovak artists living in Ireland.On 18/06 Saturday 7pm - 11pm - open evening for all who fell in love with Slovak traditional music, Slovak wine, Slovak people and all other Slovak things. The performer of the evening is the Slovak Centre – Ireland’s folklore group known as Folklore Group OSTROHA.
